SNMP

SNMP, network and IT infrastructure on the same SCADA

Back to all integrations

SNMP is how network gear, UPSes, printers, servers and managed switches expose health and metrics. ScadaHud polls SNMP devices the same way it polls PLCs, so your operations dashboard is one pane of glass for OT and IT.

Background

What is SNMP?

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) defines a manager-agent model where managed devices publish a Management Information Base (MIB), a tree of OIDs (Object Identifiers) that the manager can GET, GET-NEXT, GET-BULK or SET. SNMPv3 adds authentication and encryption. UPSes, switches, routers, hypervisors and printers all speak SNMP.

ScadaHud

What ScadaHud's driver supports

  • SNMP v1, v2c and v3
  • GET, GET-NEXT, GET-BULK, SET, walk
  • v3 authentication (MD5, SHA, SHA-256) and privacy (DES, AES-128, AES-192, AES-256)
  • Counter32, Counter64, Gauge32, Integer32, OctetString, IpAddress, ObjectIdentifier, TimeTicks
  • MIB-aware OID resolution
  • Configurable polling intervals and timeouts
Where it fits

Common use cases

  • UPS battery state and load monitoring (APC, Eaton, Vertiv, Socomec, Riello)
  • Network switch port and traffic monitoring
  • Server health (CPU, memory, fan, temperature)
  • Printer and infrastructure inventory
